Building modern, responsive websites that work seamlessly across all devices. We focus on performance, accessibility, and design consistency—ensuring your site not only looks great, but functions flawlessly from desktop to mobile.
Developing custom tools designed to optimize your business processes. From automation scripts to full-scale internal platforms, we create tailored software that aligns perfectly with your operational needs. The software we create is compatible with Microsoft Windows (WPF/WinForms).
Financial Engineer began with two members of the Royal Bank of Canada Derivatives team, who felt that a market existed for an affordable desktop tool to price primarily Interest Rate Derivatives. At the time one very key decision was taken that has set the tone for FE ever since: we decided to develop solely for the then new Microsoft Windows operating system. Our first version was built on Windows 3.1! At the time we developed GUI using Visual Basic, with a calculation engine written as a DLL in pure C.
As MS developed, so we followed. Six months after the introduction of C# in 2002, we began porting our products to the new language, and we have stayed with C# ever since.
With Microsoft's release of C# in 2002 came two new technolgies .Net and ASPX. FE had previously experimented with developing an online Derivatives pricer using PHP and Java, only to abandon the effort. Having successfuly adopted C# for desktop development and during a relatively quiet patch when Jonathan had time on his hands, he decided to reopen the question of an online tool. This was suddenly much easier as core library routines needed no change and all that was required was a new UI. Therefore when he received a request from Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen to help with a tool for their Sparkassen in late 2007, much work had already been done, such that the first Sparkassen were onboarded in March 2008. Development for the internet became a key cornerstone of FE's programming.
Simultaneously FE began working on a project for our first client not primarily involved in derivatives, albeit still in finance. This project broadened into the development of a risk management and integrated dealing system.
At the end of 2017, some of FE's libraries were adapted for the first time for projects that had nothing to do with Finance. Our WPF toolkit, which speeds development of Desktop applications, is equally relevant for any datacentric application. So too our in-house library for reading from and writing to Excel. Interacting with different SQL Database providers through well defined DatAccess Layers can be applied to any application that takes user input to power a business model. The model does not have to be a financial calculator. One thing that we do not want to abandon though: mistakes in financial calculations can be very costly, which demands a very high level of accuracy. We wish to carry the same attention to detail into other projects as well.
FE has always either used Home Office or rented accomodation. It was high time that we had a permanent home and where better than by the sea?
